All Autonomous Administration institutions will be included in elections: AANES General Council

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – “All The institutions of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) will be included in the elections,” Yasser al-Suleiman, Vice-President of the General Council of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, said on Saturday.

“After the completion of writing the drafting of the social contract for the Autonomous Administration, a High Elections Commission will be formed with the task of monitoring the election process, which will include all the institutions of the AANES,” he added.

On Wednesday, the Legal Committee of the General Council of Autonomous Administration held a session to prepare and study the draft election law for northeast Syria in preparation for presenting it to one of the General Council sessions in the near future.

The General Council based on the 2014 election law in the Jazira region in preparing the draft election law.  Some amendments, which comply with the criteria of the Autonomous Administration, were made by the General Council.

“We hope that the election process provide all the institutions of the Autonomous Administration with new capacities, scientific expertise and competencies, and community activities that play a role in the success of the Autonomous Administration’s work,” al-Suleiman said.

“The institutions of the Autonomous Administration will witness changes in their work policy in order to provide all services to citizens, improve the health, service and educational reality, and develop institutional work to keep pace with the work of institutions in developed countries,” according to al-Suleiman.

According to al-Suleiman “The draft of the social contract will be presented to the population after the expanded committee finishes its formulation. The Articles of the social contract will be discussed one by one and in detail to make the appropriate amendments that serve and meet the demands of the peoples of the region and its communities to ensure the public interest and to preserve the status and freedom of the citizen.”
