Residents of Syria’s Hasakah back home, SDF combing operations continue

HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – Displaced families from Guweiran neighborhood in Hasakah city, northeast Syria, who had fled due to ISIS’s attack on al-Sina’a prison, returned to their homes on Saturday.

Their return comes in tandem with a combing campaign carried out by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Asayish in the neighborhood and other neighborhoods adjacent to al-Sina’a prison which was attached by ISIS on January 20.

The clashes that took place between the SDF supported by the Global Coalition, and ISIS members caused a mass displacement of residents from the neighborhoods of Guweiran, al-Zuhour, al-Nashwa, Villat al-Humr and the central and northern neighborhoods of Hasakah.

Earlier today, and during a combing campaign in Guweiran, the Internal Security Forces (Asayish), arrested eight militants of ISIS, a security source told North Press.

Clashes also took place between a patrol of the Asayish and some ISIS members in the vicinity of Fatima Al-Zahra School, southeast of Guweiran.

However, most of the displaced are afraid to return to their homes, fearing the presence of ISIS members there, as the combing operations haven’t finished yet.
