Asayish arrest 8 ISIS members of Syria’s Hasakah prison

HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – ASDuring a combing campaign of the Hasakah’s Guweiran neighborhood, northeast Syria on Saturday, the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish), arrested eight members of ISIS, a security source told North Press.

“The Asayish managed to arrest three ISIS members in Guweiran neighborhood near the cemetery while searching for ISIS members who had escaped from al-Sina’a prison,” the source said.

“Five other ISIS membes were arrested in al-Aghawat area, in the center of Guweiran neighborhood,” the source added.

Medical teams arrived in al-Sina’a prison on Saturday to take out the bodies, coincidently with the operations to remove battle remnants in the vicinity of the prison.

For the third consecutive day, the city of Hasakah has been witnessing a state of cautious calm since the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) declared control of al-Sina’a prison. However the sound of sporadic clashes is still heard until now.

The helicopters of the US-led Global Coalition are hovering over the city in tandem with the ongoing combing operations by the SDF and Asayish in the neighborhoods of Guweiran and al-Zohour plus raiding operations in other neighborhoods.

About 90 ISIS members are still holed up in the northern part of al-Sina’a prison, refusing to respond to the surrender calls by the SDF fighters who are besieging the place, according to the SDF Media Center.

In a press conference on January 26, the SDF announced full control of al-Sina’a prison.
