All staff stranded in al-Sina’a prison in Syria’s Hasakah released, Asayish
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced, on Wednesday afternoon, regaining complete control over al-Sina’a prison in Guweiran neighborhood, in Hasakah city, northeast Syria, where Islamic State Organization (ISIS) members holed up and engaged in a riot for about five days, since Thursday.
Freeing the stranded prison staff and captives by ISIS topped the priorities during the operations launched, head of Press Offices of the People’s Protection Unites (YPG), Siyamend Ali, said.
“All of them numbering 23 were released yesterday in an operation by our military forces,” Ali added.
He stressed combing operations are still ongoing in the neighborhoods surrounding the prison after they secured safe paths for civilians, whom ISIS members used as human shields, to flee the organization threat.
Ali noted that the other obstacle that necessitated the implementation of “precise ad sensitive operations” is the presence of children of ISIS members inside the prison whom also were used as human shields by those who were engaged in the riot.
