Turkish-Russian joint patrol run in Syria’s Kobani
KOBANI, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, Russian Military Police (MP) conducted a joint patrol with Turkish forces in the eastern countryside of northern Syria’s Kobani, northern Syria.
This is the 86th patrol between the two forces in the region since the signing of the Russian-Turkish ceasefire agreement in 2019.
The patrol, which consisted of eight Russian and Turkish military vehicles, set out from the village of Gharib, 15 kilometers east of Kobani, then it halted in the village for half an hour given Russian helicopters planned to accompany the patrol were delayed.
The patrol passed the villages of Karbanaf, Kosk, Alishar, Jom Ali, Kortek, Kobk, Satan, Tiri, Tel Hajib, Qabajeq Saghir, Telk, Boztepa, Qaramogh, Jishan, and then Kharabisan Fawqani.
Half an hour later, when the patrol reached Boztepa village, the Russian helicopters arrived.
The patrol returned to the set off point in the village of Gharib.
After that, the Turkish military vehicles returned to Turkey through the gate near Gharib village, while the Russian military vehicles returned to their position near the town of Sirrin, south of Kobani.
On January 17, the Russian MP along with the Turkish forces conducted the 85th joint patrol in the west countryside of Kobani where people intercepted the patrol and threw stones at them.
On January 8, one civilian lost his life and 11 others were injured as Turkish forces and Turkish-backed Syrian armed opposition factions bombarded areas near Kobani and six villages surrounding it in addition to villages in Tel Abyad.
