A council in Syria’s Raqqa denounces Turkish shelling

AIN ISSA, Syria (North Press) – Tel Abyad Region council released a statement on Saturday saying the Turkish shelling which claimed the lives of two civilians supports the attack by the Islamic State Organization (ISIS) on al-Sina’a prison in Hasakah city, northeast Syria.

Tel Abyad Region council functions in Ain Issa town, north of Raqqa countryside and affiliated with the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES).

The statement condemned the silence of Russia and the US on the crimes Turkey commits against the civilians.

Moreover, the statement called the international community to break up the silence and do its humanitarian, moral and legal duties to pressure Turkey to stop crimes against humanity.

Sabri Nebi, member of Tel Abyad Region council, said the Turkish state commits another crime against a whole family and it is added to the series of crimes it had already committed against the unarmed civilians.

On Saturday, two civilians were killed and three others were wounded in a Turkish shelling on the villages of Jahbal and al-Fatsa and on the vicinity of An Issa town.

Ain Issa, its countryside, the western villages of Tel Abyad and other areas in north and northeast Syria are subjected to repeated shelling by the Turkish forces and Turkish-backed Syrian opposition factions.
