ISIS defeated militarily yet not eliminated: Washington-based SDC representative

WASHINTON DC, USA (North Press) – The US follows up with SDC representative in Washington the hazardous development in the region [referring to the jailbreak operation in Hasakah], the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) representative to the United States Sinam Muhammad said on Saturday.

Sinam Muhammad asserts the Global Coalition will provide every necessary support to the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) to ensure the defeat of the Islamic State (ISIS).

In an exclusive statement to North Press, Sinam Muhammad added that Washington is interested in achieving stability and avoiding the reemergence of the radical group ISIS.

The latest systematic attacks by ISIS in Syria is simultaneous to other assaults in Iraq and this means that ISIS is not eliminated yet even though it is defeated militarily, she noted.

In turn, John Kirby, spokesperson of the US Department of Defense, said the US launched airstrikes to support the SDF while dealing with ISIS insurgency in Hasakah prison.

“I can tell you that we have provided some air strikes to support the SDF as they deal with this particular prison break,” Kirby told the press.

Sinam Muhammad believes that Turkey and the Syrian government made use of ISIS jailbreak to fuel more tension in the region. “Turkey bombed a vehicle belonging to the SDF that was driving to support the security forces in the vicinity of the prison”.

She pointed out that the Global Coalition should fortify ISIS prisons as they are the most dangerous prisons in the world.

“There should be ultimate solutions to evacuate Hawl Camp and all the prisons that hold foreign ISIS militants, repatriate them to their home countries and establish international courts to hold them accountable.”

Sinam noted to the great importance of gaining economic stability in the region since it is considered a vital factor to ensure a long-term stability and prevents ISIS from using the poor situation of the people to recruit them as ISIS fighters to strike stability.
