Syrian MP demands prime minister’s resignation
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Member of the parliament of the Syrian government called on the prime minister yesterday to seriously consider submitting his resignation and giving the opportunity to those who can truly help the Syrian people.
Nasser Youssef al-Nasser, a Syrian MP, posted on his Facebook account his briefing at the parliament’s session yesterday, in which he reviewed his questions to ministers and officials.
The capital, Damascus, like the other government-held cities, is witnessing a sharp deterioration in living conditions, in light of high prices of goods and other merchandise.
“Corruption has leaked into the joints of government institutions in a frightening manner, and the people suffer from hunger, poverty and injustice. I as a citizen, not an official, also starved,” al-Nasser said.
“Does your salary last till the end of the month? If yes, please tell us how! may we copy you, and if no, would you explain to us how do you manage your issues till the end of the month?” he inquired.
He also directed his questions to the Ministry of Justice by saying: “Find me a citizen got his justice?” As well as the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research: “What is happening in Syrian universities of corruption needs to be addressed.”
“The recent corruption has completely pervaded the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform. What happened in Homs Governorate (fodder Institution) was theft and embezzlement of billions that prompted farmers to abandon their land because of improvised and ill-considered agricultural plans,” he noted.
He directed to the Ministry of Interior noting that most of the young people have migrated legally or illegally, dying in the forests of Eastern Europe, sleeping in the streets of Gulf countries, and missing in Erbil and Iraq.”
I hope that the Minister of Interior will visit Homs Governorate (Al-Qusayr region) to see the security chaos in the border villages, and the murders, thefts and illegal cars.
He called on the ministry to be open to the citizens about the passport issuance. “Is the ministry unable to print passports, or does it have implied goals which is to limit immigration?”
He believes that the government is unable to improve the living situation, pointing out that the blockade and sanctions do not justify all this failure of the government in the performance of its work and tasks.
Al-Nasser concluded his briefing in the session by calling on the Prime Minister to seriously consider submitting his resignation, and to give an opportunity to those who can provide real assistance to the people.
