Fire burns down tents in a camp in Syria’s Hasakah

HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, fire started in four tents in Sere Kaniye IDP camp, east of Hasakah, northeast Syria, without causing any casualties. 

One of the tents in the camp caught fire which then spread to three other tents.

“Fire broke out in four tents in one of the camp’s sectors, without causing any casualties,” Yilmaz Ibrahim, co-chair of the Sere Kaniye camp council, told North Press.

“The fire, which initial information indicates was caused by a fire in a heater, has been contained, and now investigations are being conducted to find out the causes of the incident,” she added.

Sere Kaniye camp, which was opened on September 8, 2020, in order to receive the displaced from Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain), houses 2,281 families in total of 12,345 people.
