International parties show positive attitudes to mediate negotiations with Syrian government, SDC
RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – International parties including Russia and the USA showed positive stances regarding mediating the negotiations between the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) and the Syrian government, Sihanok Dibo, member of the Presidential Council of the SDC, said on Thursday.
In late November, a delegation of the SDC visited the Russian capital, Moscow, and met with the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov.
During the meeting they tackled the political settlement in Syria focusing on areas of northeast Syria, according to a statement released by the Russian Foreign Ministry after the meeting.
Russia is serious regarding the mediation of the negotiations between the SDC and the Syrian government, according to Dibo.
“We stress that we [SDC] are ready to begin the dialogue with the Syrian government according to national constants that preserve and protect the Syrian unity and sovereignty,” he added.
“Since the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) is the better solution to solve the Syrian crisis,” he noted.
Yesterday, the SDC briefed the politicians in Raqqa city on the latest political developments in the region during a meeting held at the Raqqa Center for Culture and Arts.
“The basic premise to solve the Syrian crisis is through the political solution according to the UN Resolution No.2254,” Dibo indicated.
In late 2015, the UN Resolution 2254 was issued and it stipulated an immediate ceasefire in Syria, the start of political negotiations and holding elections within 18 months.
“No capital including Russia issued an international decision surpassing the UN Resolution 2254,” SDC member said.
“In all our meetings with it, Russia stresses on the implementation of the UN Resolution 2254,” he noted.
