One leader, two other people killed in Syria’s Daraa

DARAA, Syria (North Press) – Daraa governorate in southern Syria witnessed three killing cases on Thursday, in which three people were killed in separate areas of the governorate.

Unknown individuals assassinated a commander in the Eighth Brigade, which belongs to the Russian-backed Fifth Corps, Samer al-Hamad al-Shanabla, 37, in the village of Kharba in the eastern countryside of Daraa, North press reported local sources.

The gunmen shot al-Shanabla in front of his house and run away, the sources added.

Al-Shanabla was transported to the National Hospital in the city of Busra al-Sham in the eastern countryside of Daraa, but he died there.

Al-Shanabla came from Suwayda governorate and came to live in the village of Kharba in Daraa in 2012 after being displaced, the sources noted.

Al-Shanabla was a fighter within the opposition factions before he reconciled with the Syrian government forces when they took control of southern Syria, and then he joined the ranks of the Russian-backed Eighth Brigade, the same sources said.

In a similar incident, Sheikh Ahmad al-Beqeirat was killed by unknown individuals in the town of Tel Shehab, west of Daraa, on Thursday.

Local sources in the western countryside of Daraa told North Press that unidentified gunmen shot al-Beqeirat and then ran away.

Al-Beqeirat was taken to the National Hospital in the city of Daraa, but he died there,” the sources said.

Al-Beqeirat, who was a member of the Central Committee in the western region, was from the town of Tel Shehab in the western countryside of Daraa, according to the sources.

The third incident included the killing of Ma’moun al-Jabawi, 64, in the city of Inkhil in the northern countryside of Daraa.

Sources close to al-Jabawi, who was the deputy head of the Local Council in the city of Inkhil, told North Press that he was shot by unidentified gunmen in front of the Local Council in the city and was taken to the military hospital in the city of al-Sanamayn in the northern countryside of Daraa, but he died there.

Al-Jabawi was discharged from the government forces with the rank of colonel several years ago, before he worked in the local council, the sources said.
