Turkish attacks curbed implementation of service projects in NE Syria’s Tel Tamr

TEL TAMR, Syria (North Press) – As a result of the Turkish attacks and threats as well as the low allocated budget, service projects that was scheduled for the current year in Tel Tamr, north of Hasakah, have not been implemented, the co-chair of the Tel Tamr People’s Municipality, Ahmad Haydar, said on Wednesday.

“The Tel Tamr Municipality has privacy since it is located near the frontline with the Turkish enemy and its mercenaries,” Haydar said on the sidelines of the annual meeting of the municipality.

The Tel Tamr People’d Municipality held the annual meeting in the town with the participation of dozens of members of the town, officials of the Municipalities Committee in Hasakah, and administrators of the civil institutions in the town.

The Turkish forces and the Turkish-backed armed factions have been stationed on the outskirts of the town since late 2019 following the aggression against Sere Kaniye and Tel Abyad, north and northeast Syria.

Since the beginning of 2021, the municipality has been implementing projects of a plan that was set in 2019, which was curbed due to the Turkish shelling of the region, Haydar told North Press.

He pointed out that the set budget is $57,000 and it has been equally distributed, among the villages and towns affiliated with the town.

“Most of the projects were to improve the infrastructure including routes,” Haydar noted.

“Some projects were completed and some others are implemented by about 50% and we are still completing the work,” he added.
