Government forces’ members killed in explosion in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Five members of Syrian government forces were killed and wounded on Monday when an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded in their car in Shola desert on Homs-Deir ez-Zor road, east Syria.
Three members of the Division 17 of the government forces were killed and two others were wounded when an IED exploded in their car on the Palmyra-Deir ez-Zor road in Shola desert, North Press reported a military source of the government forces.
The members were of a patrol combing the desert in search of ISIS militants in the vicinity of the town of al-Shula, the source said.
The government forces and Iranian-backed factions control large areas of the Syrian Badia, which have recently witnessed several clashes between ISIS militants and the government forces alongside the affiliated factions.
Two of the government forces’ members were killed yesterday while trying to dismantle a mine near a military point in the city of Deir ez-Zor.
On November 13, 16 members of Syrian government forces were killed in an armed clash with ISIS in the Masrab Badia, west of Deir ez-Zor.
