Two people killed in government shelling on Syria’s Idlib
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Two people were killed and others wounded due to Syrian government forces’ shelling on southern Idlib, while the Idlib and Aleppo regions witnessed a continuation of mutual shelling between the Turkish-backed armed opposition factions and the government forces on Wednesday.
The government forces targeted the town of Ain Laroz in the Zawiya Mountain area, south of Idlib, with heavy artillery, North Press reported a local source.
Two people were killed and others were wounded. The wounded were transported to medical points near the area, the sources said.
The government forces continued bombing the opposition factions’ positions in the villages and towns of al-Fatira, Kafr Oweid, Sfuhen, Kansafra, al-Bara and al-Mozarah in Zawiya Mountain, the sources added.
The opposition factions’ points in the villages and towns of Tuqad, Kafr Noran, Ajel, Tedil and Kafr Ta’al, west of Aleppo, were also hit by the government forces stationed in Regiment 46.
For months, areas in Syria’s northwest have been witnessing mutual shelling between parties to the conflict in different areas amid news on government military reinforcements to different areas in the region.
Although the de-escalation zone in northwest Syria is subject to a Russian-Turkish ceasefire agreement signed in March 2020, the area witnesses frequent mutual bombardment despite the entry of the ceasefire into force.
