First meeting of its kind held among SDF, SDC and AANES

HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – A tripartite meeting brought together the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC), the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), and the Autonomous Administration of North East Syria (AANES), last week, in Hasakah city, northeast Syria, discussed coordination mechanisms among the three parties.

The meeting was headed by the co-chair of the SDC, Amina Omar, the SDF Commander-in-Chief, Mazloum Abdi, and the co-chair of the AANES Executive Council, Abd Hamed al-Mehbash.  

The president of the SDC Executive Committee, Ilham Ahmad, gave a political briefing on the most important political developments related to the Syrian issue, including working with all parties to open channels of communication and enhance the region’s role in the Syrian solution.

Mazloum Abdi, spoke about the security and military challenges facing northeastern Syria, especially the Turkish threats and targeting of civilians through drones.

Abdi noted the importance of adhering to the international and regional agreements concluded with the various parties, the most important of which is the de-escalation agreement, while continuing the fight against ISIS.

In turn, al-Mehbash, focused on the need to advance the AANES to develop its administrative and legal structure, and work on development and economic projects.

The attendees described the Syrian government’s approach to solving the Syrian crisis as negative as a result of its insistence on resolving the crisis in accordance with its mentality and behavior that exploits the deteriorating situation in the country, in order to expand its influence and follow reconciliation procedures devoid of national standards.

The meeting discussed mechanisms of coordination between the three institutions in various fields, and working through periodic coordination meetings to overcome difficulties and obstacles facing the development process, establish security and stability in all regions of northeastern Syria.
