ISIS, government forces claim killing SDF member in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, groups of Syrian government forces and the Islamic State organization (ISIS) claimed the responsibility for the killing of a member of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), who had been deadly shot by unidentified gunmen the day before yesterday, Saturday, in the town of Swaidan, 75 km east of Deir ez-Zor, east Syria.
“A group of popular factions targeted one of the checkpoints of the SDF in the town of Swaidan, with automatic weapons. A member of the SDF was killed two others were wounded,” the pro-state SANA news agency said.
ISIS, in turn, claimed the targeting, where Amaq News Agency, which is close to the organization, published a statement in which it stated that the ISIS militants “targeted a military vehicle of the SDF in the town of Swaidan, with automatic weapons, and killed one member and wounded two others.”
Recently, the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor has been witnessing an increase in assassinations of SDF members, employees of the Autonomous Administration, tribal dignitaries and civilians, some of which ISIS has claimed the responsibility for.
