The Children’s Day marks November 20 of each year, and it was first declared in 1954 by the United Nations General Assembly.
“Since its establishment, the office has been trying by all means to preserve the rights of children and to keep them away from the war, killing and displacement,” Omar Sa’id, co-chair of the Child Protection Office in Manbij, told North Press.
The Child Protection Office in Armed Conflicts within the Autonomous Administration opened a branch in the city of Manbij on October 20, 2020.
“Since the beginning of the Syrian war, children have been the most affected group by the war, which destroyed the future of a large proportion of them, displaced some of them, and killed others,” Sa’id said.
“We will try to focus, in the coming period, on the statistics of the child labour and prevent employers from using children in jobs that are not appropriate for their ages. We will try to include this paragraph legally so that if any child experiences any problems in the future, we will hold the employers responsible,” Sa’id added.
“In addition to the above, we are working to intensify the office’s activities to find solutions for child labour,” he concluded.
