Unity of Syrians the key option to stop Turkish hostilities: Dignitaries in Manbij
MANBIJ, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, dignitaries and Sheikhs in the city of Manbij, north Syria, stressed that unity of all Syrian people is the only choice to confront Turkey’s territorial ambitions in Syria, especially in the northeast regions.
In a statement to North Press, Muhammad Sadiq al-Asidi, spokesperson of notables of Manbij said, Turkey still does all it can to intervene in Syria and spread horror among the Syrian population.
“We as Syrian Sheikhs and notables encourage unity of the Syrian people and a Syrian-led solution in which the Autonomous Administration and the Syrian government gather to confront Turkey’s territorial ambitions,” he added.
“Privacy of northeast regions with all its civil and military institutions should be preserved,” he stressed.
“It is not understanding with the Syrian government that we object, rather it is the mechanism proposed by the government,” he said.
Al-Asidi believes that Turkey’s claim that it combats terrorism in Syria and maintain its own national security is but a fake. If what Turkey claims is true, then Turkey should hand over all the Syrian regions it invaded to the Syrian government as long as it does not object the presence of the government forces there.
Al-Asidi criticized the international silence towards the Turkish invasion and the killing of the vulnerable civilians.
“All countries intervening in the Syrian conflict only care about their own interests without considering the expectations of the people,” he said.
A week ago, the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) stated the US and Russia bear full responsibility why Turkey continues its offensive in Syria and targets civilians in the areas it controls.
“Turkey has been an occupying state on the Syrian territory since 1936 when it occupied the Syrian Sanjak of Alexandretta,” Head of Bobannah clan in Manbij, Khaled al-Ajour, said.
“We, as people of this country, have to defend our city against any external threat that seeks to occupy it or change its demography, as we will not allow any state to occupy an inch of our land,” al-Ajour added.
Everything is run in favor of the powers present in the region “no state works to fulfill the Syrian people’s ambitions,” he noted.
He also stressed that no solution can be reached in solving the Syrian issue unless the Syrian people unity and the start of a new chapter towards negotiations regarding a peaceful solution with all parties agreeing on that serves and guarantees interests of all.
