Two suicide bombers killed in Iraq’s Kirkuk
IRBIL, KRG, Iraq (North Press) – On Monday, Iraqi Security Forces thwarted a suicide attack in the northern Iraqi city of Kirkuk and killed two suicide bombers, the Joint Operation Command stated.
“Our hero forces including the 8th Cavalry Regiment managed to kill two suicide bombers who tried to explode themselves while the Iraqi forces were checking them,” Ali al-Fariji, commander of the Joint Operation Command said in a statement.
“The security forces found out a military camp in the region of Albu Mefrej south of Daquq district. Currently the whole region is being checked and the camps are being detonated,” he added.
Today, the Iraqi forces captured five militants affiliated with the Islamic State (ISIS) and destroyed their hideouts in the governorates of Babil, Anbar and Kirkuk.
“The Sharia head of al-Farouq Brigade affiliated with ISIS, was arrested,” the Iraqi Intelligence Agency in the Ministry of Interior said in a statement. However the agency withheld mentioning his name.
“The captured figure was involved in detonating IEDs in Babil city and resulted in the death of four military personnel and civilians in addition to burning seven fuel tanks”, the statement added.
In the same context, al-Anbar Operation Commander, Naser al-Ghannam, announced the arrest of four ISIS members in Anbar governorate. One of them was in charge of transferring supplies to ISIS militants in the desert of Anbar.
Meanwhile, the Security Media Cell affiliated with Iraqi Defense Forces said the security forces discovered two ISIS hideouts which contained ammunition in addition to other stuff. The hideouts were completely destroyed and the ammunition were seized.
