Civilians, military members killed in Syria’s Daraa

DARAA, Syria (North Press) – Two civilians and a member of the Syrian government forces were killed by anonymous gunmen yesterday evening in Daraa, Syria’s southern city.

Muhammed Kheir Osama al-Labbad, a member of the Syria military security forces, was shot dead by anonymous gunmen who targeted him directly in his hometown, local sources told North Press.

Al-Labbad hails from as-Sanamayn city in the northern countryside of Daraa.

Monther Suleiman al-Mef’alani, a civilian from Nawa town, west of Daraa, was also shot dead in front of his house, according to local sources.

Ibrahim al-Rweis, 48, was also targeted by anonymous gunmen in the west of Tesil town, west of Daraa, the sources added.

Al-Rweis hails from al-Jabaliyah village in the western countryside of Daraa. He was a former leader in the Free Syrian Army (FSA), the military wing of the Syrian opposition.

Notably, in July 2018, al-Rweis underwent a settlement process conducted by the Syrian security forces and never joined a military faction afterwards.

In the same context, Muhammad Ali al-Lahham, nicknamed Abu Ali al-Lahham, a commander of a unit affiliated with the Syrian military security forces, survived a failed assassination attempt yesterday evening, a military source told North Press.

Al-lahham’s vehicle was targeted by an IED when he was driving along al-Musayfirah-Umm Wald road in the eastern countryside of Daraa. Damages were only limited to the vehicle.

Last Sunday, two soldiers affiliated with the government forces were killed as their vehicle detonated by an IED planted on the road that links the two towns of Izra’ and al-Sheikh Meskin in the western countryside of Daraa.
