48 Syrian families to leave Hawl Camp
HAWL CAMP, Syria (North Press) – A new batch of 48 Syrian families, including 149 individuals, are getting ready to leave Hawl Camp, east of Hasakah, northeast Syria, returning back to their hometown in areas in Deir ez-Zor, the camp’s management said on Sunday.
This batch is to complete the previous one conducted under a joint initiative between the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) and tribal sheikhs to get inhabitants of Syrian origin out of Hawl Camp.
On October 21, the first group of the 19th batch, including 18 families, consisting of 74 individuals, left Hawl Camp for their hometowns in Deir ez-Zor.
In October 2020, the Executive Council of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) mandated to evacuate Hawl Camp from Syrians wishing to get out.
“Under the SDC initiative, preparations are underway to complete evacuating Syrian families heading to Deir ez-Zor and its countryside,” Munir Muhammed, an official of the Exit Office of Hawl Camp told North Press.
Muhammed pointed that this batch comprises 48 families, including 149 members.
1,226 families, including 4,549 individuals plus the number of current batch, have left the camp since the SDC initiative started. And 15,650 families, including 57,566 members, remained in the camp, according to the camp management statistics.
More Syrian families wishing to get out of the camp are to be evacuated in the upcoming period, Muhammed added.
