Syrian government forces withdraw from areas in Daraa following settlement process
DARAA, Syria (North Press) – On Friday, Syrian government forces removed a number of their military checkpoints deployed in the towns and villages of Daraa governorate, south Syria.
The government forces removed the military checkpoint on the road between Nawa and Tsil towns in the western countryside of Daraa this morning, local sources told North Press.
Yesterday evening, the Air Force Intelligence withdrew from the municipal council, where it stationed, in the town of Tsil in the western countryside of Daraa, to be replaced by members of the Military Security Service, the sources added.
They stated, the military and security checkpoints of the Political Security Service in the town of Kafr Shams in the northern countryside of Daraa withdrew yesterday, and headed towards their locations in al-Sanamayn town and the city center of Daraa.
Besides, members of Radar Checkpoint of the Military Security Service, which are stationed near the town of al-Na’ima in the eastern countryside of Daraa, were replaced by members of the Air Force Intelligence, according to the sources.
“Yesterday, the government forces withdrew the Air Force Intelligence members from the Nassib border crossing between Syria and Jordan and replaced them with members of the Political Security Service.”
One of the notables of Daraa governorate, who declined to be named, told North Press: “withdrawing the checkpoints and replacing some of them is the exchange of areas of control and influence between the security services.”
He added, the Iranian-backed Air Force Intelligence now controls the eastern countryside of Daraa, while the Military Intelligence controls the western countryside of Daraa.
