Several areas northwest Syria witness shelling by government and opposition
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, the de-escalation zone in northwest Syria witnessed mutual shelling between Syrian government forces and armed opposition factions.
The government forces continued bombing the opposition factions’ sites in the villages and towns of Tuqad, al-Habata, and Kafr Ta’al in the western countryside of Aleppo, with artillery and missiles, North Press reported military opposition.
The government forces, stationed in Jurin Camp, sporadically bombed the opposition factions’ points near the towns of al-Enkawi and al-Qahira in the Gab Plain. No casualties were reported, the sources added.
Responding to the government forces’ shelling, al-Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room targeted the government forces’ sites in the city of Saraqib and the villages of al-Talhiya and Kratin, east of Idlib, North Press reported an opposition military source.
The factions targeted the government forces’ points in the town of Besatroun, west of Aleppo, with heavy artillery, the source noted.
For months, areas in Syria’s northwest have been witnessing mutual shelling between parties to the conflict in different areas amid news on government military reinforcements to different areas in the region.
Although the de-escalation zone in northwest Syria is subject to a Russian-Turkish ceasefire agreement signed in March 2020, the area witnesses frequent mutual bombardment despite the entry of the ceasefire into force.
