Civilian killed by unknown gunmen in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, a civilian was killed by unknown individuals in a town, east of Deir ez-Zor, east Syria.

“Unknown gunmen, riding a motorbike, killed a young man by a silencer gun near the al-Hassiya neighborhood on the outskirt of the town of al-Hawayij, 45 km east of Deir ez-Zor, while walking down the street,” North Press reported a source closed to the victim.

“The gunmen shot the young man, Ramadan al-Khalaf, in the chest, which left him instantly dead,” eyewitnesses told North Press.

Al-Khalaf came from the town of Thiban and he did not belong to any political party or military faction, according to residents from the town.

Recently, the countryside of Deir ez-Zor has been witnessing cases of kidnappings and assassinations of members of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), employees of the Autonomous Administration, tribal dignitaries and civilians for unknown reasons. The Islamic State organization (ISIS) has claimed responsibility for most of these cases.

Yesterday, two civilians were killed by unknown gunmen in the town of Hawayij Bu Mas’a, west of Deir ez-Zor.
