Government forces bomb opposition in northwest Syria
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, Syrian government forces bombed sites of armed opposition factions in the western countryside of Aleppo, north Syria.
The government forces, stationing in the Regiment 46, bombed the opposition factions’ sites in the towns of Kafr Amma, Tadel, Kafr Ta’al and Kafr Nouran in the western countryside of Aleppo, with artillery and rockets, sources of the factions told North Press.
Heavy clashes broke out this morning between the government forces and the opposition factions near the town of Kafr Nouran, west of Aleppo, the sources added.
The opposition factions’ fortifications near the town of al-Bara, south of Idlib, were also bombed by the government forces, the sources noted.
The contact areas between the government forces and the opposition factions were heavily targeted, but no casualties were reported.
For months, areas in Syria’s northwest have been witnessing mutual shelling between parties to the conflict in different areas amid news on government military reinforcements to different areas in the region.
Although the de-escalation zone in northwest Syria is subject to a Russian-Turkish ceasefire agreement signed in March 2020, the area witnesses frequent mutual bombardment despite the entry of the ceasefire into force.
