Government forces shell opposition sites in Syria’s Idlib
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, Syrian government forces shelled Turkish-backed armed factions’ sites in different areas in Idlib city.
The Government forces, stationed in the Regiment 46, west of Aleppo, fired Krasnopol ammunition against factions’ sites in al-Dana town in the northern countryside of Idlib, sources of the armed factions told North Press.
The government forces also targeted a police station run by the Salvation Government, the political wing of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly al-Nusra Front).
Similarly, the government forces in Kafranbel town shelled opposition sites in al-Fatirah and Sfuhun towns south of Idlib.
The government checkpoints fired artillery weapons on opposition sites in Tedil village in the western countryside of Aleppo.
For months, areas in Syria’s northwest have been witnessing mutual shelling between parties to the conflict in different areas amid news on government military reinforcements to different areas in the region.
Although the de-escalation zone in northwest Syria is subject to a Russian-Turkish ceasefire agreement signed in March 2020, the area witnesses frequent mutual bombardment despite the entry of the ceasefire into force.
