Infighting erupts among Turkey’s factions in Syria’s Afrin wounded resulted
ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday, five militants of the Sultan Suleiman Shah faction known as al-Amshat, were wounded, as a result of infighting with members of the Division 51 in Produce Market, in the center of Afrin, north Syria.
Al-Amshat and Division 51 are two Turkish-backed armed factions that operate in northwest Syria.
Violent clashes broke out between the two factions with light weapons when members of al-Amshat tried to arrest a trader called Ahmed al-Nayif, who works in the Produce Market, an eyewitness told North Press.
Five members of al-Amshat were wounded with varying degrees in the clashes. They were transferred to the military hospital in the city, he added.
The city of Afrin and its villages, north Syria, have been controlled by Turkish forces and the affiliated factions since March 2018.
At that time, the Turkish operation caused the displacement of more than 300,000 people, according to a report published by the Human Rights Organization-Afrin in January 2020.
The Afrin region has been witnessing cases of killing, kidnapping and arrest, in addition to frequent bombings, amid the inability of the factions controlling it to settle the security in the region.
