Syrian government loyalists condemn Turkish threats in Syria’s Aleppo countryside
ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – On Friday, dozens of Syrian government supporters protested in the town of Tel Rifaat, north of Aleppo, north Syria, condemning the Turkish threats to attack their region.
Protesters raised flags of the Syrian government and photos of the Syrian President raising signs with phrases saying “Turkish occupation kills our women and children, Syrian clans denounce the killing of children.”
“The Syrian government and Afrin Liberation Forces should assume their responsibilities in defending these areas against the Turkish threats,” Secretary General of Syrian National Democratic Alliance, Ahmed al-A’raj, said.
“Through this demonstration, they addressed a message to Turkey saying that they are supporting the Afrin Liberation Forces and the Syrian government forces until they liberate our areas including Afrin, al-Bab, Azaz, Jarabuls, Sere Kaniye, and Idlib,” al-A’raj added.
He pointed out that the Turkish state attacks the Syrian areas under the pretext of fighting terrorism, but it supports and protects terrorist organizations and factions, which are globally designated on terrorism list such as al-Nusra Front and Ahrar al-Sharqiya that are running Afrin, Sere Kaniye and Idlib.
Al-A’raj called on international powers to put Turkey under pressure in order to withdraw from the Syrian lands.
“We do not accept the Turkish intervention in our areas. Due to the successive Turkish shelling and threats to invade our areas, we live in destabilization and feel unsafe,” Muhammad Alo, a resident of Tel Rifaat, said.
Syrian government forces accompanied by the Russian forces are running the town of Tel Rifaat and its vicinities, where their posts have been deployed since 2018.
Turkey threats to invade the town amid ongoing shelling on the town by Turkish forces with the support of Syrian factions affiliated with them.
Days ago, Turkish drones dropped leaflets warning civilians to stay away from military sites threatening to invade the area.
