Government’s National Defense militant kills IRGC leader eastern Syria’s
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, a commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) died as a result of being shot by a gunman of National Defense Forces (NDF) which is affiliated with Syrian government, in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
A military source in the town of al-Ashara, east of Deir ez-Zor, said that a leader of the IRGC was shot dead by a member of the NDF.
The incident resulted in intermittent armed clashes between the two parties, amid tension in the town, according to the source, who requested anonymity.
The source added that the commander who was killed was Afghan, and he was in charge of three military sites in al-Fayha’ Square, in the center of the town.
The source attributed the cause of the incident to the Afghan commander, were he insulted the NDF member and his clan, on the pretext that he did not stop at a military checkpoint of the IRGC.
The town witnessed intermittent clashes which resulted in a number of injuries on both sides, amid great tension and mobilization of hundreds of members by both sides.
