Government forces besiege town, burn houses in Syria’s Daraa

DARAA, Syria (North Press) – On Monday evening, Syria government forces besieged the town of Nahta in the eastern countryside of Daraa, southern Syria, coinciding with the entry of a number of armored vehicles into the town, according to eyewitnesses.

Earlier, the Syrian government sent a list of 132 names of wanted people for settling their status from the town, and demanded them to hand over their light weapons. The list is considered the largest one in the eastern countryside of Daraa.

The Syrian government sent large reinforcements to the town and imposed a siege on it from all sides.

“The government forces burned down two houses in the town belonging to the brothers, Ismail Shukri al-Dar’an and Muhammad Shukri al-Dar’an, who are wanted by the government forces,” eyewitnesses said.

“The two brothers’ names were included in the lists handed over by the security committee of the government forces to the people of the town, and they are wanted for the settlement,” the witnesses added.

A military source told the town’s residents that “their forces will remain there until the settlement process is completed in the town and the weapons are handed over.”
