HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday, the Foundation for the Families of the Syriac Assyrian Martyrs in Hasakah, northeast Syria, celebrated the anniversary of the martyrs of the Beth Nahrain National Council at the Syriac Assyrian Martyrs cemetery in Hasakah.

The ceremony was attended by many Syriac Assyrian civil and military institutions, members of civil institutions, members of the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC), and residents of the region.

The memorial ceremony began with a minute’s silence to be followed by military parade by the Syriac Assyrian military and security forces.

Several speeches were delivered, including a speech on behalf of the military and security forces delivered by Akai Hanna, the official of the Syriac Assyrian Martyrs’ Families Foundation in the city of Hasakah, Jamil Bahho Osi, and a speech by Gabriel Chamoun, the co-chair of the Syrian Democratic Council.

“Our martyrs sacrificed their lives during the battles of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in all areas, in the villages of Khabour, the Jazira, Deir ez-Zor, Raqqa, Ras al-Ain and Tel Abyad against ISIS and against the Turkish occupation,” Chamoun told North Press.

“The martyrs of this cemetery are of all communities: Arabs, Kurds, Syriacs, Armenians, Islam and Christians,” he added.
