“Massive” US military reinforcements reach Syria’s northeast
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Yesterday on Saturday, a new batch of US soldiers arrived in north and east Syria with military reinforcements described as the “largest” months.
More than 60 military vehicles arrived at the bases of the US-led Global Coalition in northeastern Syria, which were distributed in Deir ez-Zor and Hasakah areas, sources said.
The reinforcements entered through the al-Walid border crossing with Iraq, and reached Tel Baydar base, north of Hasakah, where the American soldiers coming from Iraq were deployed at al-Shaddadi base, south of Hasakah, and in Deir ez-Zor, media reported.
This is the second convoy in two days, after a convoy of dozens of trucks and carriers with weapons, ammunition and logistical materials entered on October 8.
Yesterday, the Defense Department spokesman Navy Cmdr. Jessica McNulty, said, “About 900 US troops remain in Syria, working with Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).”
On October 7, the US State Department spokesperson told North Press that President Biden has expressed support for maintaining the US forces in northeast Syria “to support local partners and prevent an ISIS resurgence.”
