Settlement process in Syria’s Daraa goes on
DARAA, Syria (North Press) – This evening, on Saturday, a meeting of notables from the towns of Sayda, al-Na’ima and Keheil, with officers of the security committee of the Syrian government, ended in the city of Daraa, southern Syria.
Sources told North Press that it was agreed to open a settlement center in the Municipal Council building in Sayda, in the eastern countryside of Daraa, as of tomorrow, on Sunday.
Earlier today, notables of the town of al-Jiza in the eastern countryside of Daraa, held a meeting with government forces at the headquarters of the Security Committee in the presence of the Russian Military Police (MP).
In the meeting, it was agreed to start settling the status of a number of wanted persons by the security services in the town.
And the settlements’ procedures of dozens of wanted people in the bordering town of Nasib with Jordan, in Daraa eastern countryside were started.
On September 5, a number of Daraa’s notables and government forces, in the presence of a number of Russian officers, reached a ceasefire agreement, including handing over weapons and deploying governmental security points in the towns of Daraa governorate.
Daraa was subjected to a suffocating siege imposed by Iranian-backed factions and the government forces for more than two months. Finally, an agreement was reached between the parties to the conflict brokered by Russia on a ceasefire and the entry of government forces into the besieged neighborhoods.
