Residents disregard coronavirus outbreak in Syria’s Hasakah countryside

SHADDADI, Syria (North Press) – Despite the emergence of confirmed infections in the town and its countryside, and the spread of coronavirus among the population, there is still recklessness and lack of awareness among the residents, a health official in al-Shaddadi town, south of Hasakah, northeast Syria, said on Tuesday.

“There are several cases that come to the health center, show symptoms of coronavirus, and some of them have confirmed infections,” Ali al-Sa’id, an official at al-Shaddadi Health Center, told North Press.

“Anyone who visits the health center and shows symptoms of the virus, a swab is taken from the patient, and his diseased condition is evaluated and diagnosed in order to ascertain whether he is infected or not,” he added.

He pointed out that the population should take caution and follow preventative methods such as physical distancing, especially.
