150 Jordanian cargo trucks enter Syria daily
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The number of trucks entering and leaving Syria everyday through the Jaber/Nassib crossing between Syria and Jordan reached about 150.
The head of the Jordanian Truck Owners Union, Muhammad Keir al-Dawud, estimated the number of trucks entering and leaving Syria through Jaber/Nassib crossing at about 150 trucks everyday.
In a statement to al-Rai newspaper, al-Dawud pointed out that the number of the Jordanian trucks entering and leaving Syria everyday is estimated to about 150 trucks daily, expecting that the number will rise in the coming days.
“The transport sector has been waiting for Jaber/Nassib border crossing for years to be reopened, as it (the sector) suffered heavy losses due to the closure of the crossing,” he added.
Al-Dawud praised the Syrian and Jordanian governments reaching an agreement on the return of the transport movement between the two countries.
“The decision will positively affect the Jordanian and Syrian industries and the transport sector,” he stated.
In late September, the two countries announced the resumption of commercial flights between them.
Recently, the Syrian-Jordanian relations have witnessed a remarkable rapprochement, represented by visits and contacts between officials of the two countries at all levels.
As a result of the security situation in Syria during a decade of war, commercial flights between Syria and Jordan stopped in 2012.
