DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Firas Tlass, son of the former Syrian Minister of Defense, Mustafa Tlass, and a tycoon, posted on his official Facebook commenting on a news published a few days ago about 38 public sector companies being offered (for the first time) for investment to the private sector and friendly countries.
Tlass stated that forty industrial facilities belonging to the public sector are being transferred to the Iranian government’s ownership through multiple companies owned by either the Iranian ministries or the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC).
He pointed out that this was done in coordination between the Follow-up Unit of the Republican Palace in Damascus on the one hand, and the Iranian embassy and the Iranian government on the other.
This matter was agreed upon more than a year ago, and the Follow-up Unit prepared a list of 71 facilities, of which Syrian President Bashar al-Assad approved only 40 facilities.
The facilities that Assad excluded are those located in the Syrian coast and Ghab plan regions, either because they are for the Russians in the future, or so as not to arouse certain sensitivities.
What is important in this regard is that there are Iranian committees that came and started to visit these laboratories, and that Lina Kinaya and her husband, Humam Msouti, are supervising this matter in full coordination with the Iranians.
Kinaya is the assistant to the Syrian Minister of Presidential Affairs, who was appointed to this position on September 30.
She is a founding partner in Litiya Company, where she owns 52% of the company’s capital.
Tlass added that in order for the Iranians to prove that they are slowly controlling the economic decision in Syria, the Iranian ambassador visits the Syrian provinces.
Iranian Ambassador Mahdi Sobhani visited Aleppo, Homs and Tartous, and visited the Chamber of Industry and the Chamber of Commerce in Damascus, to sow reassurance in the hearts of Syrian industrialists and businessmen, according to Tlass.
Tlass pointed out that he knows that Assad sold the country’s decision to the Iranians for a long time, but now he has started selling the whole country, and all this, and we did not talk about hundreds of thousands of hectares in the Jazira region and Gab whose ownership is transferred to Iranian companies.
Firass Tlass, who belongs to a Sunni family from Homs governorate, had close relations with the former Syrian President, Hafez al-Assad, but after the eruption of the Syrian civil war in 2011, he defected to the opposition.
