Russia bombs Turkish-backed factions’ posts in Syria’s northwest

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, Russian warplanes conducted airstrikes on targets in Idlib, northwest Syria, while areas in the countryside of Hama and Idlib witnessed shelling by Damascus government forces.

Since June, areas in Syria’s northwest have been witnessing military escalation and intensive mutual shelling between Turkish-backed armed Syrian factions and government forces with Russian support.

Russian warplanes targeted the outskirts of the Turkish point near the town of Kansafra in Zawiya Mountain, south of Idlib, with more than seven airstrikes, a military source from the factions told North Press.

Russian airstrikes also targeted the southwestern outskirts of the town of al-Bara and the vicinity of Deir Sunbul amidst intensive flight by Russian drones over the area, the sources added.

Russian airstrikes coincided with artillery and missile shelling by the government forces of the villages and towns of al-Fatira, Kafr Oweid, Sufuhun, Kansafra, al-Bara, Deir Sunbul, and Binin in Zawiya Mountain, according to the same sources.

Meanwhile, villages and towns of al-Ziyarah, al-Ankawi, the vicinity of Khirbat al-Naqus, and Mansura in Ghab Plain, west of Hama governorate, were subjected to artillery and missile shelling by the government forces stationed in Jurin Camp, the sources pointed out.

As a result of the shelling, material losses were reported in public and private properties in addition to massive damages to routes in the aforementioned areas.

Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room announced that they managed to snipe a government soldier in Saraqib, east of Idlib, amid news about delivering new military reinforcements to Turkish-backed armed factions in areas in the countryside of Idlib.
