Russia raids HTS training centers in Syria’s south Idlib
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, Russian warplanes renewed their aerial shelling of areas held by Turkish-backed armed Syrian factions south of Idlib in addition to targeting a training center belonging to Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly al-Nusra Front), while Syrian government forces shelled several villages in Zawiya Mountain.
Russian warplanes targeted the outskirts of the towns of Kansafra, al-Bara, Ain La Rose in Zawiya Mountain, south of Idlib, with four airstrikes, military sources of the factions told North Press.
Russian airstrikes coincided with interrupted artillery and missile bombardment by government forces of the villages and towns of al-Fatira, Kafr Oweid, Sufuhun, Majdaliya, al-Bara, Rowayha, Deir Sunbul, Shnan, and Binin, south of Idlib.
The government shelling targeted cultivating areas between the towns of al-Bara and Kansafra in addition to a HTS training center, which formerly was an HTS prison that was named Sejen al-Iqab (punishment prison), local sources told North Press.
The aerial and ground shelling coincided with intensive flight by Russian drones over Idlib and the countryside of Hama, Aleppo, and Latakia, northwest Syria, according to the sources.
