Turkish intelligence arrests two civilians in Syria’s Afrin

AFRIN, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, Turkish intelligence arrested two residents of the village of Bremja, in the Mabata (Maabatli) district, in the Afrin region in the northern countryside of Aleppo.

Turkish intelligence, accompanied by members of the Turkish-backed Mohammed al-Fateh faction, arrested Salah Akash and Muhammad Mustafa, residents of the village, an exclusive source told North Press.

The two people were transferred to an unknown location after their arrest, without revealing the reason for the arrest, while their fate is still unknown.

Meanwhile, Turkish-backed factions in Afrin continue to commit violations against indigenous residents, including intimidation, threats, arrests, kidnappings, and murders.

In 2018, the Turkish military with the support of Syrian opposition factions caused the displacement of more than 300,000 people from the Afrin region towards areas in the northern countryside of Aleppo, according to the Human Rights Organization-Afrin.
