QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), in a statement in the anniversary of al-Shaitat Massacre, called on international community to collaborate with them in preserving stability and security in the area and preventing the revival of Islamic State (ISIS).
August 14 marks the seventh anniversary of al-Shaitat Massacre which claimed the lives of more than hundreds, most of which were children.
Al-Shaitat clan, which belongs to al-Akidat tribe, are spread throughout Syria and the Arabian Peninsula and it is one of its most prominent clans.
In August of 2014, ISIS committed a massacre in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor in the villages and towns of Al-Kishkiyah, al-Ghiraneej, and Abu Hamam.
In the statement, the AANES called on “Human rights, legal, and international organizations and the US-led Global Coalition to assume to their responsibilities and consider the thing that our people of al-Shaitat witnessed a complete massacre.”
The statement stressed, “the necessity of continuing the fight together until eliminating ISIS and foiling the plans of its regional supporters, topped by Turkey.”
