Gold records down in Syria’s Damascus

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, the price of gold in local markets in Syria’s Damascus recorded a decrease of about 2,000 Syrian pounds (SYP) for each gram of 21 carat.

Each gram of 21 carat gold recorded 158,000 SYP (over 50 US dollars) for selling piece and 157,500 SYP for purchasing, while each gram of 18 carat gold recorded 135,429 SYP (over $40)  for selling and 134,929 SYP (over $40) for purchasing, according to a bulletin issued by Craftsman Association for Jewelry in Damascus on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, price of gold changes according to the exchange rate of the Syrian pounds against the US dollar.

Economists attributes this to the decrease in the gold price globally to its lowest level in more than 4 months, in trading on Monday.

However, the association called on craftsmen to comply with the new price released by it and also called on residents, who want to buy gold, to buy it according to the new bulletin.
