Government forces, opposition factions increase military escalation in Syria’s northwest

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, the countryside of Idlib, Aleppo and Hama, northwest Syria, witnessed the renewal of the exchange bombardment between the Syrian government forces and the Turkish-backed opposition factions in different areas amid intense flight of the Russian reconnaissance planes over the area.

“The government forces bombed the opposition factions’ sites in the towns and villages of al-Fatira, Kafr Oweid, Sufuhn, al-Bara and the outskirts of Kansafra and Majdaliya in the Zawiya Mountain, south of Idlib, with missiles and heavy artillery shells,” said military sources of the opposition.

“The government forces stationed in Jurin Camp, hit the town of al-Ziyara and the village of Tel Wasit in the Ghab Plain, west of Hama, with missiles and artillery shells,” the sources added.

The sources pointed out that the bombing, which caused material damage, coincided with intense flight of Russian reconnaissance planes over the targeted areas.

In turn, the al-Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room, which includes several armed factions, targeted the positions of the government forces in the town of Dadikh, southeast of Idlib, with missiles and heavy artillery shells, according to a military source of the National Front for Liberation said.

Also, the al-Fateh al-Mubin bombed the positions of the government forces in the town of Urm al-Kubra and the Za’atar Factory area, west of Aleppo, according to the same source.

For months, the areas of northwest Syria, the Zawiya Mountain in particular, have witnessed intense bombardment by the government forces and the Russian forces, in which dozens of civilians have been killed and wounded in addition to the displacement of hundreds.
