SDF militants wounded in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, two Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) fighters were wounded in an attack with RPGs and machine guns in a town east of Deir ez-Zor, east Syria.
Unknown armed individuals attacked an SDF military checkpoint with two RPG shells and machine guns from an abandoned house near the checkpoint, wounding two SDF fighters, a military source from al-Shuhail town, 40 kilometers to the east of Deir ez-Zor, told North Press.
Following a mutual clash, the armed individuals fled, according to the source.
The house from which the shells were fired belongs to an individual wanted by the SDF on charges of belonging to Islamic State (ISIS), the source added.
The two wounded SDF militants were transferred to al-Omar Field Hospital and their health condition, according to a doctor operating in the hospital, is good.
Recently, the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor has been witnessing increasing attacks, most of which ISIS claimed responsibility for, on military posts and checkpoints.
Five days ago, an SDF militant and a civilian were wounded in two separate attacks by two unknown individuals who were riding motorbikes in both the eastern and western countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
