No results of Russian delegation meeting, Syrian government bombs Daraa
DARAA, Syria (North Press) – On Monday afternoon, a delegation of the Russian Military Police entered al-Sad Road neighborhood adjacent to Daraa al-Balad region in Daraa, south Syria.
The Russian delegation, which included a number of officers, most notably Assaduallah, met with the Central Committee in Daraa (consists of anti-government activists, lawyers, sheikhs, and former opposition leaders), and the notables of Daraa al-Balad and the besieged neighborhoods, according to local sources.
At the meeting which lasted for about two hours, the Central Committee and the notables explained the current situation in the neighborhoods besieged by the government forces and pro-Iranian factions.
However, the delegation left al-Sad Road neighborhood amid news that no agreement was reached.
Then al-Bahhar neighborhood and Daraa al-Balad region in addition to the besieged neighborhoods were hit by tanks, mortars and anti-aircraft shells.
After the departure of the Russian delegation, the Central Committees held a meeting to consult on the results of the visit.
“The Russians carried a message from the government demanding the surrender of a number of wanted men with their light weapons, in addition to allowing the deployment of military checkpoints in Daraa al-Balad and the besieged neighborhoods and the inspection of the houses,” a member of the Central Committee told North Press.
“The government forces are still strict about their terms, while the Russians promised to try to spare the region the war again,” he added.
The member of the Central Committee pointed out that the Iranian-backed Fourth Division, especially the Brigadier General Ghayath Dala, the commander of the al-Ghaith Forces, is still bringing in large reinforcements towards Daraa al-Balad and the border strip with Jordan.
He described the possibility of the entry of the army and security services as catastrophic if the Russians allow it.
