Russian and Turkish forces patrol Syria’s Kobani countryside

KOBANI, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, Russian military police conducted a joint military patrol with Turkish forces east of the city of Kobani, northern Syria, the 65th patrol of its kind in the region.

These patrols are an implementation of the Sochi Agreement reached between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on October 22, 2019.

The patrol, consisting of eight Russian and Turkish military vehicles accompanied by two Russian helicopters, took off from Gharib village, 15 kilometers east of Kobani.

The patrol roamed the villages of Boztepe, Qaramokh, Jeshan, Itweran Tahtani, and Bagdik, all the way to the village of Agbash west of Tel Abyad city.

The patrol then returned to its starting point in Gharib, where Turkish vehicles crossed into Turkey through the border gate near the village, while Russian vehicles returned to their center near the radio tower west of Kobani.

On July 26, Russian military police conducted the 64th joint patrol with Turkish forces in the Kobani countryside.
