Opposition factions’ sites in Syria’s Hama, Latakia receive multiple airstrikes

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, Russian warplanes launched airstrikes on the sites of the Turkish-backed armed factions in the northern countryside of Latakia and the western countryside of Hama, northwest Syria.

The Russian warplanes targeted the fortifications of the armed factions in the vacinity of the Kabanah hills, north of Latakia, and the village of Duwayr al-Akrad in the western countryside of Hama with high-explosive missiles, military sources from the factions told North Press.

The Russian airstrikes coincided with intense bombardment of the government forces on the armed factions’ positions in the southern countryside of Idlib and the western countryside of Hama, without any casualties reported, according to the same sources.

Moreover, the government forces renewed their bombardment of the armed factions’ fortifications in the de-escalation zone in northwestern Syria.

Local military sources said that government forces stationed in the city of Ma’arat al-Numan bombed the factions’ sites in the towns of Ma’rblit and San and Banin located in the southern countryside of Idlib.

Meanwhile, sources of al-Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room, which includes Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and Jaysh al-Izza (Army of Glory) in addition to the National Front for Liberation (a Turkish-backed Syrian opposition coalition), said that it carried out an air strike on gatherings of government forces in the town of Miznaz, west of Aleppo, leaving casualties.

North Press could not obtain accurate details from unbiased sources.

The military escalation between Syrian government forces and pro-Turkish armed groups within the de-escalation zone comes despite the ceasefire agreement between Turkey and Russia which has entered its second year.
