New batch of displaced people leaves Syria’s Hawl Camp

HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, Hawl Camp management said that a new batch of 83 Syrian families are preparing to leave the camp, east of Hasakah, northeast Syria, towards their areas in Raqqa and its the countryside.

This is the 17th batch after the initiative of the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) and tribal sheikhs to evacuate the Syrians from the camp.

In October, 2020, the Executive Council in the Autonomous Administration decided to evacuate the Syrian families who wish to leave.

Munir Muhammad, an administrative official in the Exit Office in Hawl Camp, told North Press, “The new batch consists of 83 families, with a total of 299 people, and they come from Raqqa and its countryside.

“They will leave the camp according to the initiative of the SDC and the decision issued by the Executive Council of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria,” Muhammad added.

According to the camp statistics, about 16,100 families, with a total of about 59,265 people, have remained in the camp.

Muhammad indicated that they “evacuated them after completing the procedures of verifying the documents.”

With the current batch, the number of families leaving the camp since the initiative of the Syrian Democratic Council has reached more than 1,000 families, with a total of about 4,000 people.
