SDF member killed in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, a member of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) was killed in an attack by unidentified gunmen on a checkpoint in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
A military source in the town of al-Hussan, 20 km west of Deir ez-Zor, said that unidentified gunmen fired at a checkpoint of the Syrian Democratic Forces at the entrance to the town.
He added that one of the checkpoint members lost his life after being wounded, while the gunmen fled.
Yesterday, a clash between members of a the SDF checkpoint in the town of al-Shuhail, 40 km east of Deir ez-Zor, and four armed men on motorcycles broke out, which led to the injury of one of the checkpoint members.
A doctor at the military hospital in al-Omar field, where the injured member was transferred to, said that he is still in a “critical condition.”
Recently, Deir ez-Zor countryside has witnessed an increase in attacks against SDF members, employees of the Autonomous Administration institutions, clan dignitaries and civilians, some of which have been adopted by the Islamic State (ISIS).
