Woman stabbed inside Security Square in Syria’s Hasakah
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, a young man stabbed a woman in the city of Hasakah, northeast Syria, with a sharp tool, and the woman was taken to a hospital in the city. This event comes after two girls were recently killed in the city under the pretext of “honor.”
An eyewitness in the area of the security square, which is under the control of the Syrian government forces in the city of Hasakah, said that the woman, who was in her forties, was taken the incident to al-Hikma Hospital in the center of the city.
Members of the government security branches arrested the young man, who was related to the woman.
A medical source at al-Hikma Hospital told North Press that the woman was transferred to the intensive care unit after receiving necessary first aid.
The woman was stabbed several times in the back and abdomen with a sharp object, the source added.
Last Monday, a father in Hasakah strangled his 16-year-old daughter to death, according to information obtained by North Press.
A few days ago, another girl was shot dead by her family, also under the pretext of “honor.” A video clip of the incident spread, amid anger on social media and calls for the killers to be held accountable.
In the past few days, Hasakah and its countryside witnessed widespread condemnation, carried out by local civil and women’s organizations.
