Indiscriminate bullets leave injuries, affect residents in Syria’s al-Bab
AL-BAB, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, a medical source in the public hospital of al-Bab, in the eastern countryside of Aleppo, said that about 15 people were wounded due to the indscriminate firing of bullets during wedding parties and occasions since the beginning of the year.
Anas al-Talib, a nurse in the hospital, said that the injuries varied between moderate and light.
The phenomenon of firing bullets during wedding parties and public and private occasions is widely spread in al-Bab and other areas under Turkey and the Turkish-backed armed factions’ control; machine guns, automatic rifles, and pistols are used.
Al-Talib indicated that the firing came out of joy, the intent to frighten, or if there were disputes between tribes or armed factions. However, this affects the locals in addition to injuring pedestrians in the engagement area.
Moreover, the shooting, which usually occurs late at night, frightens the residents, especially when the gunmen shoot while they roam the city in their cars.
Members of the family of Muhammad Khair Allah (a pseudonym), a resident of the city, were nearly killed as a result of several bullets hitting the walls of their house and others entering the rooms through the windows.
On June 25, a woman was wounded by a rifle bullet fired at a wedding party.
On June 28, people indiscriminately fired bullets in a wedding which led to the cutting of electrical cables in the Zamzam street in the city and the spread of fear among the residents of the neighborhood.
Al-Bab residents say that the security apparatus affiliated with the armed factions in al-Bab are unable to control this phenomenon as they “do not dare” to stop members of the armed factions, according to a citizen.
Khair Allah pointed out the indiscriminate firing is not limited to wedding parties only, where in the disputes between the factions, the members of the both sides shoot heavily.
“They deprived us of sleep and safety… and neither the shooters are held accountable nor any of those affected are compensated,” he added.
